Vegetation and floristic diversity in Jebel Marra region of Darfur
The massif of Jebel Marra lies in the western part of Sudan; it is a volcanic complex reaching more than 3000m above sea level. The study area comprises three regions namely Zalingei, Wadi Salih and Nerttiti. This study was designed to study the distribution of plant communities along the altitudinal gradient. A total of 274 species, belonging to 34 families ... إقراء المزيد

BIO-MONITORING OF RADIONUCLIDES AIR POLLUTION USING PHYSIOLOGICAL RESPONSES OF URBAN TREES
Contamination of environment by radionuclides in territories under urboecosystem conditions is an actual problem. The search for new express methods for radioactivity determination of environment is an important task of research. The present work evaluated the ability to use _Eucalyptus globulus_ leaves to act as bio-monitor for environmental radionuclides air pollution. The accumulation features of radionuclides (226Ra, 232Th, 40K) in ... إقراء المزيد

Chemical Structure of Natural Products and Characterization of Secretory Tissue of Sweet Basil (Ocimumbasilicum L.)Under Lead Stress
Abstract: The present study was done to test the effect of Pb treatments on secretory tissue and the chemical structure of the essential oils of basil (Ocimumbasilicum L.). Lead treatments were as follow: 100, 250, 500 and 7500 ppm in addition to control. The experiment was done on Ocimumbasilicum L. in a greenhouse, arranged as a randomized complete block design ... إقراء المزيد

Bioaccumulation Potential and Physiological Responses of Aquatic Macrophytes to Pb Pollution
In view of their potential bioaccumulation of heavy metals, Ceratophyllum demersum and Myriophyllum spicatum was studied under hydroponic cultures enriched by different Pb concentrations (25, 50, 75 mg/l) for 1–7 days. Both species exerted remarkable capabilities toconcentratePbintheirtissuesascomparedtocontrol.Thehighestaccumulationvalueof Pb (164.26 mg/g.dw) was recorded in C. demersum and the most of metal (91.72 mg/g dw) accumulated after 1 d. Significant reduction in ... إقراء المزيد

Induction of biomarkers associated with cadmium detoxification in aquatic species
The aquatic species Ceratophyllum demersum and Myriophyllum spicatum were grown in different Cd concentrations (0, 25, 50, 75 mg/l) in a hydroponic system to analyze their detoxification capacity and the suitability of pigments and proline content to serve as biomarkers. Both studied species exhibited the same increasing pattern of Cd removal, when they treated with different Cd concentrations. M. spicatum ... إقراء المزيد
