Current Job:          Professor and Head of Department of Chest Diseases, Sohag Faculty of Medicine, Sohag University.

Qualifications:         MBBCh; Faculty of Medicine, Assiut University, Assiut, Egypt (Sep. 1988) with grade of very good with honour.

                                Master Degree in Chest Diseases; Faculty of Medicine, Assiut University, Assiut, Egypt (April, 1994) with grade of very good .

                                M.D. Degree in Chest Diseases; Faculty of Medicine, South Valley University, Sohag, Egypt (Oct., 1999).

3/1989-2/1990:        House officer at Assiut University Hospital working in the following departments: general surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, emergencies and anaesthesia, and chest diseases (2 months in each department).

 Experience:            Experience gained in this field in the university hospitals through preparing and organizing rotas, training tutorials, lectures, and exams for junior chest specialists, undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Teaching and Academic

 Experience:            - Professor and Head of Department of Chest Diseases, Sohag Faculty of medicine, Sohag University.

                                - Preparing and organizing exams. for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

                                - Supervision of MD and MSc. Theses for postgraduate students.   

                                - Sharing in the education programme in the university hospitals through teaching the chest diseases as well as the different diagnostic procedures (as fibreoptic bronchoscopy, pulmonary function testing, blood gases analysis and respiratory ICU procedures) for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

 

 

Scientific

 Activities:                - Organizing and participating in the scientific conferences, workshops, meetings and seminars at the Chest Departement and Sohag University Hospital for undergraduate and postgraduate students and chest physicians.

  - Participating and attending most of the local, national and   international conferences of pulmonary and internal medicine (ATS, ERS, ESCT, ESSB, and others).                                                                            

 

 

 

Research

 Experience:            - The M.Sc. Thesis involved working with the problem of rifampicin resistance among tuberculous patients.

                                - The M.D. Thesis involved working with the role of fibreoptic bronchoscpy and induced sputum in the diagnosis of lung cancer.

                                - Research Fellow at Department of Respiratory Medicine, Gartnavel General Hospital, Glasgow University, United Kingdom.

  • Conducting several research works in various chest diseases as COPD, bronchial asthma, interstitial lung diseases, pulmonary infections, pulmonary vascular diseases, lung cancer, sleep and mechanical ventilation.
