Synthesis and Antimicrobial Screening of Fused Heterocyclic Pyridines.
In an attempt to find a new class of antimicrobial agents, a series of pyridoxazepine, pyridothiazepine, triazepine, naphthyridine, pyridopyrimidine, and other related products containing pyridine moiety were synthesized _via_ the reaction of 2‐amino‐6‐chloro‐3,5‐dicyanopyridine 1 with nucleophilic chemical reagents. These compounds were screened for cytotoxicity and their antimicrobial activity. Most of products showed inhibitory effect. Read more

Synthesis and in vitro antibacterial evaluation of some novel fused pyridopyrimidine derivatives
Pyridopyrimidine derivatives 2, 5 and 7, 8, 9 were furnished by the reaction of compound 1 with a variety of reagents, namely, formic acid, acetic anhydride, phenyl isothiocyanate, phenyl isocyanate, carbon disulfide, acetamide and thioacetamide, which in turn were treated with hydrazine to give pyrazolopyridopyrimidine derivatives 4, 6 and 11, 12, 13. The potency of the results as antibacterial agents ... Read more

Cobalt (III)-porphyrin Complex CoTCPP as an efficient and recyclable homogeneous catalyst for synthesis of tryptanthrin in water.
The water soluble cobalt(III) porphyrin complex (CoTCPP) was employed as an efficient catalyst for the synthesis of the biologically active natural product tryptanthrin. The reaction proceeded under mild conditions in aqueous media at room temperature from various isatoic anhydride and isatin derivatives. The advantages of these reactions were excellent yields, short reaction times and a recoverable catalyst. _Cobalt (III)-porphyrin Complex ... Read more
