Field, petrographical and petrochemical studies revealed that Hamret Ghannam granite intrusion can be differentiated into two phases, an earlier phase of porphyritic granite and a later phase of alkali feldspar granite. Also Um Naggat granite intrusion is separated into pink granite, alkali feldspar granite and albite granite phases. However, it is argued that both granite intrusions are of magmatic origin.

Petrochmically, the two studied intrusions are alkaline and pertain to POG and PG younger granites.
