Red clover mottle virus was isolated and biologically purified by single local lesion method on Phaseolus vulgaris plants. The obtained isolate was mechanically transmitted and has narrow host range included most plants belonging to Fabaceae, Solanaceae and other weed plants. Red clover mottle virus (RCMV) doesn't transmit through Myzus persicae and Aphis craccifora insects. Electron microscopy (EM) has revealed presence of spherical particles, about 30 nm in diameter were shown on purified RCMV preparations. RCMV-infected cells of P. vulgaris were investigated and membranous inclusion bodies were showed. RCMV-infection in six genotypes of Vicia faba induced synthesis of newly proteins and simultaneously reduced or inhibited other protein sets. According to the available literature, this is the first record of RCMV on broad bean in Egypt.
