CLINICAL AND ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES

 

  • Since 2008, Dr. Emad was a resident surgeon at general and emergency Surgery Units, Sohag university hospitals, Sohag, Egypt. During this period, he learned the principles of different elective and emergency surgical techniques, including the management of polytraumatized patients.

 

  • Since 2012 and after his graduation from the specialization school and being certified with the master’s degree, he took part in the academic activities of the general surgery department in the form of teaching medical students through different clinical rounds.

 

  • Since 2013, Dr. Emad was attached to the Hepatobiliary Surgery Unit, General surgery department, Sohag university. During this period, he learned the main indications and techniques of liver and pancreatic resections.

 

 

  • From January 2015 to January 2017, Dr. Emad was a visiting scholar at the Hepatobiliary and Liver, Kidney, and Pancreas Transplantation Surgery Unit, Polytechnic University of Marche, Ancona, Italy.

 

  • From 2017 and ongoing, Dr. Emad was chosen as a peer reviewer for 3 international journals with good impact factors, including: “International Journal of Surgery, Medicine(Baltimore), and The Surgery Journal”.

 

 

OVERSEAS EXPERIENCES

 

January 2015 – January 2017:

Dr. Emad was a visiting scholar at the Hepatobiliary and Liver, Kidney, and Pancreas Transplantation Surgery Unit, Polytechnic University of Marche, Ancona, Italy. During this period, he learned the principles of abdominal organ transplantation, the surgical techniques and the principles of management of the transplant recipient, including the newest immunosuppression protocols. Dr. Emad constantly and actively participated in the surgical activities related to organ transplantation and Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic surgery. He took part to many transplantation procedures including split-liver transplants, liver transplants in patients with complete portal vein thrombosis performed with the cavo-portal hemi-transposition technique and combined liver-kidney transplantation. He personally performed several steps in the liver transplant procedures. Additionally, Dr. Emad has experience in the complex hepatobiliary surgery including treatment of Klatskin’s tumours, resection of tumours involving the inferior vena cava and\or diaphragm, and A.L.P.P.S. (Associating Liver Partitioning and Portal Vein Ligation for Staged Hepatectomy) technique. At 2017, Dr. Emad has successfully completed his surgical training fellowship at Hepatobiliary and Liver, Kidney and Pancreas Transplantation Surgery Unit, Polytechnic University of Marche, Ancona, Italy.
