Anesthetic Experience:
Theatre experience:
General surgical experience:
I am experienced in routine, emergency and specialised general surgical anaesthesia. I gained experience at Assuit University Hospitals in Egypt for hepato-biliary surgery such as hemi-hepatectomy and biliary bypass procedures.
Vascular:
The three busy units at Assuit University Hospitals in Egypt have enabled me to gain experience in this field, particularly in peripheral arterial surgery, carotid endarterectomy, and both elective and emergency aortic aneurysm surgery.
Orthopaedic Surgery:
I was encouraged at an early stage in the use of regional techniques for orthopaedic surgery. I have been able to continue with this throughout my training. I’m also keen on the use of local anaesthetic techniques for the provision of postoperative analgesia including brachial plexus, femoral, sciatic nerve block, ankle block, wrist block. Also, I use continuous infusion catheter techniques for postoperative analgesia. I’m expert in central nerve block (spinal, epidural, and combined spinal epidural techniques). I’m expert in using continuous intrathecal techniques for operative and postoperative use for orthopaedic and abdominal procedures.
Neuroanaesthesia:
I’m involved in the management of severe head injuries in accident and emergency, with responsibility for transfer of these patients to other specialised units. Working at Assuit University Hospital, and Sohag university Hospitals in Egypt, solidified my experience in neuroanaesthesia.
Paediatric Anaesthesia:
I’ve been always involved with paediatric anaesthesia throughout my training. Working at in Egypt, as well as Alder-Hay Children’s hospital made me expert in dealing with non-cardiac cases. In my current post as a consultant anaesthetist, I do 3 paediatric sessions/month, and deal with all paediatric medical and surgical emergencies.
Intensive Care Medicine:
Throughout my career, I’ve had a vast amount of training in ICM. Despite in my current post I do not cover the ICM; I do anaesthetise critically ill intensive care patients for various surgical procedures. I’m expert in insertion of central venous lines (subclavian, internal jugular, femoral) and arterial lines.
Obstetric Anaesthesia:
My obstetric anaesthesia in Egypt, where most of the cases I was involved with are complicated ones (prolapsed cord, intra-uterine foetal death, Eclampsia, rupture uterus, foetal distress) , also in all type of cold gynecological operation as well as obstetric analgesia
I’m expert in obstetric anaesthesia, and I’ve written few articles and case reports in that particular field. Since I started my post as a consultant anaesthetist, my experience and knowledge warrant me to be the lead consultant in that field.
Pain:
I have gained an interest in acute pain and chronic pain management during my anaesthesia training. This has been particularly with reference to the use of local anaesthetic techniques for postoperative analgesia.
I was the first consultant to introduce the use of continuous intrathecal anaesthesia and postoperative analgesia to my current hospital
Also now I manager of pain clinic in my hospital as all type of block either permanent as in cancer patients or repeatable as in chronic benign pain.
(Stellate ganglion block, Thoracic paravertebral block, celiac ganglion, lember ganglion and superior hypogastric plexuses block.
In the field of Anesthesia, I sponsored of obstetric theatre two days a week in which all type of obstetric and gynecological operations was confronted also we carry the obstetric analgesia .
Also I sponsored of theatre of general surgery one day a week, two other day for the pain clinic and benign and cancer pain management
