Purpose : To determine the correlation betweenkeratometric and refractive astigmatism in pseudophakiceyes.SETTING: Sohag university hospital, Department ofOphthalmology, Egypt.
DESIGN: Case series.
METHODS: Consecutive eyes that hadphacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantationduring the period between June 2011 and June 2013 wereevaluated. The refractive and keratometric astigmatismwere compared 6 months posoperatively.RESULTS: The mean postoperative keratometricastigmatism (1.813±0.678D) in the 75 eyes wasstatistically significantly higher than the meanpostoperative refractive astigmatism (1.64±0.634D)(P<0.001).Regression analysis found a significantcorrelation between the refractive and keratometric errorsof the J0 component (P<0.001) and beween the refractiveand keratometric errors of the J45 component (P<0.001).
CONCLUSION: Keratometric astigmatism wasresponsible for about 49% of the refractive astigmatismin pseudphakic eyes. Other factors induce astigmatism i
