Post-cholecystectomy bile duct injuries: when to repair?
ABSTRACT Background: Post cholecystectomy bile duct injury (BDI) though rarely happens; it has its own impact on postoperative outcomes. There is controversy on the optimal time for repair of such injuries. The aim of this study was to analyze the different time modalities used for repair of these injuries and its outcomes. Methods: This was a prospective randomized study conducted ... Read more

Serum vitamin D3 level inversely correlates with uterine fibroid volume in different ethnic groups: a cross-sectional observational study
Purpose: Currently there is no effective medicinal treatment for uterine fibroids (UFs), a common health disorder that affects women of reproductive age. Identification of modifiable risk factors such as vitamin D (Vit D) deficiency could help develop novel strategies for the prevention and/or treatment of UFs. The purpose of this study was to identify whether low serum Vit D3 levels ... Read more

association of between two common mutations C677T and A1298T in human Methylene tetrahydrofolate reductase enzyme gene and the risk for diabetic nephropathy in type II diabetic patients of
DIABETIC NEPHROPATHY(DN) is a serious microvascular complication of diabetes and is the leading cause of end stage renal failure .Mutations of methyelene tetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene have been shown to be associated with a predisposition to DN in some populations. This study aimed to investigate whether polymorphisms of(MTHFR)C677T(rs 1801133) and A1298C(rs1801131)considered arisk factor for DN among type2 diabetes mellitus patiens(T2DM) or ... Leaf geometric design of urban trees: potentiality to capture airborne particle pollutants
The geometric features and particles burdens of the leaf of twenty-seven common tree species were studied. Three different tree categories including coniferous, broad and bisect leaf were recorded. These categories exhibited significant differences in their particle burdens of TDP, PM10 and PM2.5. The value of TDP appears to affect strongly by leaf macro-morphology such as leaf direction, flatness and hardness. ... Read more

Markers defining colorectal adenoma-carcinoma progression: a computerized image analysis protocol
ABSTRACT: The vast majority of colorectal carcinoma are widely believed to arise from polypoid adenomas. The apoptotic related genes that have been most consistently characterized in colonic cancer are bcl-2, bax, and p53. Studying the expression of these genes in adenoma carcinoma sequence will be of great value in producing the clinical behavior of benign tumors. Loss of contact inhibition ... Read more

An improved moth‐flame optimization algorithm for solving optimal power flow problem
This paper proposes an improved moth flame optimization (IMFO) algorithm to effectively solve the optimal power flow (OPF) problems. The concept of moth flame optimization (MFO) is inspired from the movement of moth towards the moon direction. IMFO is mainly based on the concept of MFO with modifying the path of moths in new spirals around the flame. Standard IEEE ... Read more

CD34 Expression as a marker of progression of chronic hepatitis C
BACKGROUND In Egypt, the rate of death/transplantation, decompensation and HCC in patients with compensated HCV cirrhosis is 4.58%, 6.37% and 3.36%, respectively. It is estimated that Egyptian patients with HCV cirrhosis had an annual incidence of HCC with 5.3%. CD34 is a 110-kDa transmembrane glycoprotein present on leukemic cells, endothelial cells and stem cells). CD34 is preferentially expressed on the ... Read more
