In premature infants, weight gain becomes the main criterion for hospital discharge. Research shows that massage therapy had led to weight gain in premature infants when moderate pressure massage had been provided. Aims of the studywas to determinethe effect of massage therapy on vital signs of premature infant at Neonatal Intensive Care Units.Subjects and method The total sample included sixty low birth weight premature infants, who were conducted at Neonatal Intensive Care Units of Sohag general hospital Affiliated to theMinistry of Health. Tools of data collection:Two tools have been used: Structure Questionnaire Sheet about Socio-demographic data of low birth weight infants and General condition of premature infants. Results: The study revealed significant difference was found related weight and length of staying of premature infant at Neonatal Intensive Care Units. No significant difference was found related to anthropometric measurements (length) and vital signs in relation to massage therapy. Conclusion: massage therapy has positive effect on weight of premature infants. Recommendation:nurses who work atvNeonatal Intensive care units should receive training program of massage therapy to improve their practice regarding general condition of premature infants.
