Mycology - For third year Chemistry and Botany Students - Faculty of Science

This is an introductory course that covers fungi in different habitats. Students should gain knowledge regarding benifits that we get from fungi, their taxonmy and ecology. Students will study high level taxonomy of fungi and their main phyla and the general characteristics of each phyllum. Fungal phyl covered in this course include: Ascomycota, Basidiomycota, Chytridiomycota and Zygomycota. The life cycle of common fungi belong to different taxonomic groups will be studied in details. Fungi-like organisms are also covered which include: starminopiles and protists.
