Technical Texts in Conservation

This course aims to provide undergraduates with the technical terms related to conservation of cultural heritage. That aim is proposed to be achieved through the following general topics:
1- Introduction to Conservation and restoration of cultural heritage. (Doctrines, definitions and international organizations).
2- Archaeological artifacts in museums and sites, their materials and technologies.( various chosen examples).
3- Deterioration of cultural heritage. (Aspects, mechanisms and factors), applied to various chosen objects.
4- Analysis and examination methods applied to archaeological materials. (Sampling, techniques).
5- Conservation processes and considerations. (Treatments, laboratory field and storage).

Chosen and collected original texts from different sources and references were copied to provide an overview of possible common terms which are widely used in conservation and restoration fields. Those texts are supposed to serve carefully the previous five general topics in this course. For more information, some of related references where “copied texts” were taken from, are listed below:
