This course is an introduction to the basic concepts of geology and engineering geology. The course also makes an introduction on the appearance causes, and methods of response and management of geological risks. The course outlines the engineering projects and related works where the ground constitutes the foundation, excavation, storage or construction material. It also introduces students to the main tools and methods of Engineering Geology and the problems (directly and indirectly) that can create the geological conditions in the construction of civil works and the prevention, mitigation and control of geological hazards and risks, and the management of environmental impact of public works and industrial, mining or urban activities
