Desertification Risk Assessment of Sand Dunes in Middle Egypt: A Geotechnical Environmental Study.
The evaluation of aeolian desertification of sand dunes in north Assuit, Middle Egypt, has been achieved throughout a variety of detailed field investigations and laboratory measurements. The study area lies in hot dry desert climatic conditions where the sand dunes migration represents an effective threat cultivated lands, reclaimed lands, asphaltic roads and the systems of human distribution. Its mean annual ... Read more

Coupling of field investigations and remote sensing data for karst hazards in Egypt: case study around the Sohag City.
Karst rocks cover a wide area of Egypt. These rocks include soluble sediments such as carbonate rock formations, evaporites, and sabkha deposits that are characterized by karstification features. Karst features could affect many current and developing projects (urban areas and infrastructure). The areas covered by the rocks susceptible to karstification need detailed studies to examine the presence of karst features ... Read more

Karst Induced Geo-hazards in Egypt: Case Study Slope Stability Problems Along Some Selected Desert Highways.
Karst environments are characterized by distinctive landforms related to dissolution characteristics. Karst terrains, frequently underlain by cavernous carbonate and/or evaporite rocks, may induce ground instability problems. Impacts and problems associated with karst are rapidly increasing as development expands upon the karst prone areas. This has led to an escalation of karst-related environmental and engineering problems such as landslides developed on ... Read more

Tectonogeomorphological and satellite image analysis of the Red Sea passive margin at the latitude of Wadi Siatin, Northern Quseir, Egypt.
Remote sensing has become an essential tool to improve data collection and spatial analysis in the geosciences. Identification of passive margin structures that are exposed along the Egyptian coast of the Red Sea, and their control on landforms has been hampered by limited data resolution and restricted access to this arid and inaccessible region. A major challenge lies in distinguishing ... Read more
