Chemical and Cytotoxic Investigation of Non-Polar Extract from Ceiba Pentandra (L.) Gaertn.: A Study Supported by Computer Based Screening
Nowadays, the discovery of new drugs from natural sources is increasing dramatically. Recently, the sight is directed toward ornamental plants due to their sustainability. In this study, we are reporting on the gas chromatography profile of fatty acids, other related lipids, and hydrocarbons of the non-polar methylene chloride (MC) fraction of the extract of the ornamental tree Ceiba pentandra (L.) ... Synthesis, theoretical investigations, biocidal screening, DNA binding, in vitro cytotoxicity and molecular docking of novel Cu (II), Pd (II) and Ag (I) complexes
Three new Cu(II), Pd(II) and Ag(I) complexes with bi-dentate Schiff base ligand "HL" namely 2-[(4-Chloro-benzylidene)-amino]-phenol were synthesized. The stoichiometric ratios and physicochemical properties of these complexes were determined using elemental analyses (C, H, and N), magnetic measurements, IR, UV-Vis spectra, molar conductivity and thermal analyses. The results revealed that the metal ions coordinated with ligand HL through azomethine nitrogen and ... Read more

New cytotoxic halogenated sesquiterpenes from the Egyptian sea hare, Aplysia oculifera
Two new sesquiterpenes, oculiferane (1) and epi-obtusane (2) have been isolated and identified from an acetone extract of the digestive gland of the sea hare, _Aplysia oculifera_. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analysis including HREIMS, 1H, 13C, DEPT, 1H–1H COSY, HMQC, and HMBC NMR; the relative configuration was confirmed by X-ray analysis. Compounds 1 and 2 exhibited cytotoxic activity ... Read more
