Abstract
The phenomenon of pits for antique glass is one of the most dangerous and most common manifestations of damage in all types of antique glass. In this paper we discuss the phenomenon of pits by studying two pieces of antique glass decorated with enamel from the Museum of the Faculty of Applied Arts in Giza. Examination and analyzes were done by visual examination, Stereo microscope and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) with (EDS) Analysis. Through the results, the presence of the pits was returned mainly for the increasing of humidity percentage, and the increasing of the rate of atmospheric pollution gases, especially carbon, due to the presence of carbon deposits inside the corrosion pits and fluctuations in temperature rates.
