Purpose:
To modify the technique of brow suspension surgery (sling surgery) in treating the ptosis with poor
levator function for better cosmetic and effective results.
Design:
Prospective study.
Methods:
This modified simple technique of brow suspension surgery has been carried out on 10 eyes in
8 cases of congenital ptosis with poor levator function.
Results:
Ten eyes were operated by this technique, in all the lid was elevated and the pupil was uncovered.
The lid lag was minimal and decreased as the time passed postoperatively, while lagophthalmos was absent as
the patient could close the palpebral fissure completely . A good symmetrical lift with a good lid crease was
obtained. All the cases were followed up postoperatively for three months.
Conclusion:
The sutureless sling surgery (SSS or triple S) is a successful technique in managing the ptosis with
poor levator function with better cosmesis. However, a long term follow up study is still mandatory.
