- It is synthetic analgesic and antipyretic used more safely than salicylate.
- It is widely used analgesic. It is extremely safe at therapeutic doses.
- However, overdose or chronic use of high-dose paracetamol has been the major cause of hospital admissions.
- In the UK, it is the major cause for emergency liver transplantation due to acute liver failure (ALF) over the last 30 years.
