This course –Methods of Language Teaching II--builds on the teaching principles, practices, and strategies covered in Methods of Teaching-I, and will therefore address itself to the four macro-language skills and their sub-skills. Different ways of integrating these language skills will be discussed along with recommended techniques for testing students’ performance and providing effective feedback. Issues of initiating and sustaining interaction in language classes as well as effective classroom management will also be covered.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon conclusion of this course, students should be able to:
1. devise lesson plans tailored to different class conditions and different student groups. 2. teach grammar effectively using inductive and deductive ways. 3. use various techniques of teaching vocabulary. 4. teach the four language skills and related areas effectively. 5. demonstrate critical awareness of the principles underlying interactive language classes. 6. apply effective classroom management techniques in mini-lesson presentations. 7. provide informed constructive feedback on student performance. 8. design language tests of different types to evaluate students’ language performance.
