The course provides students with the knowledge and skills to conduct laboratory research, understand instrument design and analyze instrumental results. Students are expected to learn theories and principles behind the various instrumental techniques, instrumentation hardware and data analysis techniques delivered. The class covers the following topic: - Spectroscopic Techniques, - Mass Spectrometry, -High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), -Gas chromatography (GC), - Stripping Voltammetry, - Cyclic Voltammetry. Students are expected to be able of developping critical reading skills, technical writing skills and present material to the instructor and the class. The class will be assessed by the completion of assignments and two exams. The class is 3 semester hours.
