Theoretical study of ZnS/CdS bi-layer for thin-film CdTe solar cell
The performance of CdTe solar cells is strongly limited by the thickness of CdS window layer.A higher short-circuit current density might be achieved by decreasing the thickness of CdS layer as a result of reducing the absorption losses that take place in this layer. However, it is difficult to obtain uniform and pin-hole free CdS layers thinner than 50 nm. ... إقراء المزيد

Improvement of the performance of thin-film CdS/PbS solar cells using low-cost ZnO-based alloys as front electrode
All thin film solar cells require the use of transparent conductive electrodes such as indium tin oxide (ITO) due to its unique combination of transparency, high conductivity, durability, and favourable surface properties. Indium, however, is a rare and expensive metal; proposed large-area installations of photovoltaic (PV) cells will add further strain to global indium supply. Transparent conductive materials that are ... إقراء المزيد

Quantitative assessment of electrical, optical and recombination losses in heterojunction CdS/CdTe solar cells
In this paper, electrical, optical and recombination losses in thin-film solar cells passed on CdS/CdTe have been evaluated. Electrical losses due to series and shunt resistances are quantitatively estimated from J-V curves. J-V characteristics are described in terms of the Sah– Noyce–Shockley theory of generation–recombination in the space-charge region of the CdS/CdTe heterostructure. Optical losses due to multiple reflections from ... إقراء المزيد

Theoretical analysis of ZnO and ZnO based alloys as front electrode inCdS/CdTe solar cells
ITO has unique properties to be used as front electrode in CdS/CdTe solar cells, however ITO is expensivenot abundant and consequently this type of solar cells is still relatively expensive. This work studies theusing of ZnO and ZnO based alloys such as ZnO:Sn, ZnO:Al and ZnO:In as alternative materials of ITO inorder to develop the efficiency of CdS/CdTe solar cells. ... إقراء المزيد

Optimized conditions for the improvement of thin film CdS/CdTe solar cells
Efficient thin film CdS/CdTe solar cell performance requires optimum parameters of each layer of this cell and of the barrier structure. Moreover, the effect of optical losses, recombination losses at front and back surface of CdTe and recombination losses in the space-charge region (SCR) must be considered in order to really analyze the role of these parameters on the performance of ... إقراء المزيد

Theoretical study of the efficiency of CdS/PbS thin film solar cells
This work represents a theoretical analysis of a new type of thin film solar cells with structure glass/ITO/CdS/PbS/AL. The transmission spectrum was calculated based on the multi-reflections effect from all cell layers as well as absorption effect in both ITO and CdS layers. The calculations of spectral internal quantum efficiency were carried out based on the front and back surface ... إقراء المزيد

Enhancing the performance of thin film CdS/PbS photovoltaic solar cells
This work investigates dependence of the short-circuit current density, opencircuit voltage, fill factor and efficiency of a thin film CdS/PbS solar cell on thickness of transparent conductive oxide (TCO) layer, thickness of window layer (CdS), concentration of uncompensated acceptors (width of space-charge region), carrier lifetime in PbS and the reflectivity from metallic back contact. The effect of optical losses, front ... إقراء المزيد

Influence of the optical and recombination losses on the efficiency of CdS/CdTe solar cell at ultrathin absorber layer
Abstract: The effect of low thickness of CdTe on optical, front, and back recombination losses and hence on the efficiency of a CdS/CdTe solar cell is studied theoretically in this work. It is found that the optical losses are about 23%–24% and depend weakly on CdTe thickness. The recombination losses are about 28% at dCdTe = 0.45 m and decrease ... إقراء المزيد

Characteristics and optical properties of MgO nanowires synthesized by solvothermal method
Magnesium oxide (MgO) nanowires were synthesized by solvothermal method using magnesium nitrate hexahydrate and sodium hydroxide. Field emission scanning electron microscopy(FE- SEM) and transmission scanning electron microscopy (TEM) measurements indicate that the product consists of a large quantity of nanowires with average diameter of 20 nm and average length of several micrometers. Explorations of X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive analysis ... إقراء المزيد

Study towards high efficiency CdS/CdTe solar cells
THE EFFECT OF CDS THICKNESS AND CDTE RESISTIVITY ON SHORT-CIRCUIT CURRENT, OPEN-CIRCUIT VOLTAGE, FILL FACTOR AND CELL EFFICIENCY IS STUDIED IN THIS WORK. THE RESULTS HAVE BEEN CARRIED OUT BASED ON THE OPTICAL LOSSES (REFLECTION AND ABSORPTION) AND RECOMBINATION LOSSES (FRONT AND BACK) UNDER CERTAIN PARAMETERS OF THE ABSORBER LAYER. IT HS BEEN FOUND THAT THE OPTICAL LOSSES DECREASE WITH ... إقراء المزيد
