Two phase linear induction motors (LIM), belong to the group of special electrical machines. They convert electrical energy directly into mechanical energy with linear motion. There are various applications for LIM; e.g. trains, sporting equipment, elevators, CDROMs, , robots..etc.

The speed control methods are applied here to the LIM , are :amplitude, time phase ,frequency ,voltage and voltage frequency control.

Using the equivalent circuit of unbalanced two-phase motor of T- type, a closed forms for current and force equations were obtained including different signal coefficients of control methods.

The effect of each control method on the linear motor performance is studied. It is possible from the performance to define some limits for each control method. Then some advantages and disadvantages of each used method of control are investigated.
