The evaluation of magnetic and electric characteristics of linear induction motor (LIM) helps to design the motor for better efficiency and performance. The end effects are the phenomena that have significant influence on the performance of LIM particularly in the rated speed range. Consequently, its influence can be appropriately taken into account in the development of the analytical or calculation model.

In this paper, the electromagnetic field analysis is applied using Maxwell's field equations  on a model of LIM with secondary extensions is considered .The analysis takes the end effects into account to determine its influence on the performance characteristics.

Expressions for both current density and flux density are obtained and their variations with design parameters are investigated. The resulting drive force is obtained for the LIM through the operating range.
