Abstract:

The philosophy of education must be motivated by Islam and its philosophy; because Islam represents the philosophical and cultural framework of the Muslim society, or at least this is the way it should be. So, principles, systems, curricula, and methods of education need to be outlined in the light of Islamic thinking and its conceptualization of life and man, as well as issues and specific problems related to them. Because  Islamic thinking is the source of Heavenly inspiration, it is characterized by integrity, universality, and balance in relation to various issues.

Thus, Islamic founding of education through  the Holy Qur'an (its main source) becomes a must, especially in our fast changing world.  The material civilization, developed because of science and technology development, causes clear stress on the spiritual aspect. The Muslim world has to take into account causes of development and sophistication, as well. In addition, it has to grasp, at the same time, religious principles to be based on to achieve its goals.  In order to achieve this goal, we have to go back to the Holy Qur'an to get our principles and implications of the various aspects of our educational life from. Thus, the researcher has carried out the current study.

The current study has tried to answer the following questions:

  1. What is the approach of al-Qurtubi in interpreting (the meanings of) the Holy Qur'an? How does he interpret An-Nisa' Chapter?
  2. What are the most important educational viewpoints of al-Qurtubi in interpreting (the meanings of) An-Nisa' Chapter?
  3. How to make use of the educational viewpoints of al- Qurtubi in interpreting (the meanings of) An-Nisa' Chapter in protecting orphans rights?
  4. How to make use of the educational viewpoints of al- Qurtubi in interpreting (the meanings of) An-Nisa' Chapter in protecting the Muslim woman rights?
  5. How to make use of the educational viewpoints of al- Qurtubi in interpreting (the meanings of) An-Nisa' Chapter in protecting heirs rights and justly distributing of heritage?
  6. How to make use of the educational viewpoints of al-Qurtubi in interpreting (the meanings of) An-Nisa' Chapter in establishing monotheism principle that lifestyle arises from?

The current study has aimed to: -

  1. Give information about al-Qurtubi and his approach in interpreting (the meanings of) the Holy Qur'an.
  2. Identify Sheiks and students of al-Qurtubi, and his writings and scholarly traces as well.
  3. Investigate the most important viewpoints of al-Qurtubi in interpreting (the meanings of) An-Nisa' Chapter.
  4. Extract the most important educational viewpoints of al-Qurtubi in interpreting (the meanings of) An-Nisa' Chapter as mentioned in his interpretation .
  5. Identify how to make use of the educational viewpoints of al-Qurtubi in interpreting (the meanings of) An-Nisa' Chapter in protecting orphans rights .
  6. Identify how to make use of the educational viewpoints of al-Qurtubi in interpreting (the meanings of) An-Nisa' Chapter in protecting the Muslim woman rights .
  7. Identify how to make use of the educational viewpoints of al-Qurtubi in interpreting (the meanings of) An-Nisa' Chapter in protecting heirs rights .

The researcher has used the descriptive method because it is the most suitable method to the nature and objectives of this study. She has depended on this method treating the current study by comprehensively covering the issue theoretically. In addition, the researcher has adopted qualitive analysis method to analyze  al-Qurtubi viewpoints mentioned in his interpretation entitled " The Compendium of Legal Rulings of the Qur'an " to extract the most important viewpoints he mentioned.

The study has many results; the most important of them is that:

We may make use of educational viewpoints mentioned in al-Qurtubi interpretation (the meanings of)  An-Nisa' Chapter in everyday life on some aspects being discussed, such as: taking care of orphans rights, protecting the Muslim woman and guarantying heirs rights, and  establishing monotheism principle  that  lifestyle arises from as well.
