B: Professional Information
1- Program aims:
The aim of this program is to provide the postgraduate with veterinary medical knowledge and skills essential for the practice of parasitology and necessary to gain further training and practice in the field of Parasitology.
Scientific knowledge essential for the practice of parasitology according to the international standards.
Skills necessary for proper diagnosis and management of parasitic infestation in the field of farm animal diseases including diagnostic, and problem solving.
Ethical principles related to the practice in this specialty.
Active participation in community needs assessment and problems solving.
Maintenance of abilities necessary for continuous veterinary medical education.
2- Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs):
a- Knowledge and Understanding:
a1- Identify the fundamental concepts of Parasitology and with the technical vocabulary used in this field.
a2- Describe morphological, biological and geographical criteria of different parasites.
a3- Recognize the parasite-drug interaction.
a4- Explain parasite-host interaction (Immune inter-relations between parasite and the host).
b- Intellectual skills
b1- Interpret common taxa of parasites based on morphological, biologic and geographical criteria and clinical observation.
b2- Assess the differentiation between the behavior and ecology of different parasite species and stages in the environment.
b3- Specify the factors responsible for differentiating between infection and disease caused by various parasites.

6-Program Admission Requirements
- General Requirement
- Candidates should have either:
- B.V.Sc. Degree from any Egyptian Faculty of Veterinary Medicine or
- Equivalent Degree from Veterinary Medical Schools abroad approved by the Ministry of Higher Education.
- Follow postgraduate regulatory rules of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Menofia University.
- Regulations for progression and program completion
Duration of program is 2 semesters (1year), starting from registration till the final exam; divided to:
- One set of exams: in December.
- For the student to pass the exam, a score of at least 60% in each curriculum is needed.
8- Teaching and Learning:
The program features a variety of teaching and learning to approach the intended learning outcomes, including lectures; problem solving and problem based learning. Because this program is a starting point of postgraduate studies to student. The program based mainly on self-learning under supervision of his educator.
