The litostratigraphic studies carried out on Tineh- 2 section representing the Miocene succession in north Sinai led to the recognition of four main rock units, arranged from older to younger are: Qantara Formation of Early Miocene, Sidi Salem Formation of Middle Miocene, Wakar and Rosetta formations of Late Miocene.
