Antibacterial and Photocatalytic Activities of Controllable (Anatase /Rutile) Mixed Phase TiO2 Nanophotocatalyst Synthesized by Microwave- Assisted Sol-Gel Method
The idea of preparing different ratios of (anatase/rutile) TiO2 mixture has been performed by using microwave assisted sol-gel method and by applying particular concentrations of titanium (IV) isopropoxide as a single source precursor (SSP) with a constant concentration of nitric acid that has been used as structure directing agent. The effect of TiO2 composition ratio of anatase to rutile on ... Read more

Antibacterial activity of some spices and herbs essential oils
Essential oils have been used for centuries ago in traditional medicine, for industrial applications and as food preservatives due to their antimicrobial activity. The antibacterial activity of essential oil of cumin, black seedss, marjoram, rosemary and sage were tested against Gram-negative bacteria (_Escherichia coli O157 :H7__,__ Klebsiella pneumonia, __Proteus vulgaris, __Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typh__i _and_ Serratia marcescens_) and Gram-positive bacteria ... Antibacterial activity of certain plant extracts against bacterial wilt of tomato.
Five isolates of _Ralstonia solanacearum_ were isolated from a naturally wilted root of tomato plants grown in Assiut governorate. The antibacterial activity of extract of Datura, Garlic and Nerium were tested in controlling _R. solanacearum__in vitro_ and _in vivo_. Garlic exhibited the strongest antibacterial activity against bacterial wilt _in vitro_ and _in vivo_ followed by Datura and then Nerium. Cold ... Read more
