Thirty cases with androgenetic alopecia and ten healthy controls (male to female ratio was  1:1) were subjected to the measurement of serum hormonal levels (total testosterone, free testosterone, dehydro• epiandrosterone sulphate, estradiol, progesterone and prolactin). All hormones were analysed by radioimmunoassay technique. The evaluation of our hormonal findings revealed that there was a statistically significant increase in serum estradiol levels in male cases than controls while the other   hormones  showed   that  there   was  no   statistically   significant difference between both groups.
