1. تدريس مقررات باثولوجيا الحيوان و الطيور و الباثولوجيا الإكلينيكية لطلاب الفرقتين الثالثة و الرابعة .

2. إعداد أطباء بيطريين قادرين على تشخيص الأمراض تشخيصاً باثولوجياً صحيحاً و إعطاء حكماً صحيحياً في الصفة لتشريحية عند فحص الحيوانات المريضة.

3. إجراء البحوث العلمية بالقسم في مجال الباثولوجيا و الباثولوجيا الإكلينيكية .

4.تطوير وتحسين وسائل التعلم والتعليم وبرامج التدريب فى مجال التشخيص المبكر والدقيق للامراض والأورام وكذلك فى مجال البحوث العلمية مع تقدير كامل للإنجازات والتفوق فى هذه المجالات.

5.رفع مستوى الخدمات التشخيصية والكشف المبكر للأورام وذلك لتفادى إستنزاف اموالا طائلة فى العلاج وكذلك الحفاظ على الثروة الحيوانيه.
