Purpose:
To report the short term results of Snodgrass Tubularized incised plate (TIP) Urethroplasty in distal and mid penile Hypospadias repair.
Materials and Methods: forty-three patients with the mean (range) age of 7.3 (2-10) years having distal penile (n = 30) and mid penile Hypospadias (n = 13), who underwent TIP Urethroplasty were included in this study. Patients were followed up for a mean (range) of 14.1 (5-24) months.
Results: Mean (range) duration of surgery was 67.4 (75-45) minutes. Mean (range) duration of postoperative hospital stay was 7.6 (4 -8) days. Overall complication rate, requiring specific intervention, was 13.1 %. Small fistula, leaking in slow drops, developed in 5 (11.6%) patients. One (2.3%) patient with distal penile defect developed glandular dehiscence. Good cosmetic results were obtained in 40 out of 45 patients (93 %). Functional results, as judged by the urinary stream, were good in 39 (90.6%).
Conclusion: Snodgrass TIP Urethroplasty is a simple, single stage procedure with excellent cosmetic and functional results and is associated with very few complications.
